Tomba!

PlayStation · 2026

The game that started PSXRecomp: reasonably playable, with a warp debug menu, FMV skipping, and experimental widescreen.

Tomba! was the first game PSXRecomp ever booted, and it has grown up with the framework: from reaching the main menu in the first three weeks to a reasonably playable recompilation at v0.12.0-alpha. Its test community includes a world-record-holding speedrunner.

What works today

BIOS boot, disc detection, FMV playback, memory-card save and load, controller input, and gameplay. The save states and rewind architecture was first shown publicly on this title.

Enhancements

A warp debug menu, FMV skipping with auto-skip for the intro, and experimental 16:9 widescreen with a genuinely wider field of view. The project notes 21:9 is not ready.

The project does not distribute any game data; it builds from your own legally dumped disc image.
